New team members & slight change of plans.


Hello, Chris again.


Not much progress has been made the past day, I am however pleased to announce that there is now 3 people working on the game

We now have Myself doing the heave lifting in Unity and programming, and little bits of everything else, we have TsmartTV, doing some UI Magic, and we have Lewiishhh, helping with creating and texturing models.

We also have 2 other people helping to test and find / squash bugs.


Current view moving forward

We've been discussing just what exactly we want this game to be, now that I have 2 other good friends helping me out with ideas, this is the plan.

Metal Detector Simulator will be a Open world, RPG style game, in this world, you will find little villages, parks, open fields and farmlands.

you will also find 'Quest givers', who require the help of someone with a metal detector to find their lost items and such.

you have free roam of the world, and it will be rather large. Vehicles of some sort will be available for transport, and some other form of transport to start when you don't have a vehicle, maybe bus stops?.

Items will have value, there will be upgradable tools and possibly vehicles as you progress and make more money.

You will have a house on the world, where items of interest will be displayed (Unless you sell them), and other functionality for your home will be discussed at a later stage.


Where are we now?

Currently, I'm working on the mechanics of the metal detecting system and continuing to slowly build the open world map

Lewiishhh is working on making models of items to dig up,  I'm working on the mechanics of the metal detecting system, 













and TsmartTV is working on UI / social media art.





Metal Detector logic: I've started again from scratch on the metal detecting logic, originally it was all collision based (Your coil had a collider that would detect when it has interacted with an object under the ground that also had a collider and a tag, giving it it's rarity) Now however, I've decided there's a better way of doing this that will make my life easier going forward. (well... Hopefully)

After the metal detector logic is done, and the inevitable bugs and issues associated with it, work on the inventory system will begin so you can keep those lovely shiny items you've ripped from the earth!.
